Network Policies
Standard operating procedures and user guidelines — updated regularly as the network grows.
General Conduct
1. No harassment, hate speech, or illegal content. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy.
2. No spamming, flooding, or automated scrolling scripts in public channels.
3. Do not impersonate staff members. All official staff carry the IRCOp flag.
4. No advertising of competing networks or services in public channels.
5. Respect channel rules — Channel Founders (+q) set the tone in their own channels.
Privacy & Data
NationCHAT is a privacy-first network. Private messages are never logged on our servers.
IP addresses are masked automatically via Host Cloaking (vhost) upon connection.
Connection logs are retained for 48 hours solely for DDoS/abuse prevention, then permanently purged.
We never sell or share user data. Your account data stays with X services only.
Channel Ownership
Channel Founders (+q) have autonomous control over their channel rules, within General Conduct.
Network staff may intervene to address network-level threats (DDoS, raids, criminal content).
Founder +q is granted by X services as configured by the channel founder.
Unregistered channels are governed by whoever holds operator status at the time.
Server Linking Rules
No server may link to any other network without explicit approval from the Routing Committee.
Split-routing is strictly prohibited.
Leaf servers must run as clients only — no further linking allowed.
All servers must sync clocks via NTP and maintain 99.9% uptime.
Local operators must not have global kill/line capabilities unless authorized.
Bans & Appeals
Channel bans: set by channel operators per their own discipline.
Network bans (K-Lines / G-Lines): issued for attacks, flooding, bots, or severe abuse.
Ban appeals are handled by the Abuse Team — file one through our Complaints desk.
Aggressive or repeated false appeals may extend the ban period.
Have a question about a policy? The Abuse Team is reachable in #help, or submit a complaint.
