As a reaction to lots of ‘network split’ reports and today’s spam attacks, NationCHAT is changing all servers configurations.

Unfortunately this requires a restart of all servers. You will see a number of netsplits tonight, and we are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the change.

We now have our #News channel for you available, to get our News from our Homepage and the others or from both together as an XML Output.

Well it will not be like the old one that only announced News from our Forums, moreover it will be a channel that has RSS Feeds from different providers and categories.

There are as for example included providers like: Slashdot.org, Computerbase, Heise, Heise Security, the Discovery Channel, N24, Bild, 4Players, T-Online Computer, Computerbild and of course our own Feeds from the Homepage, our Services and Forums.

Our Sandiego.NationCHAT.Org server will be going down this coming weekend on Saturday, 18 April, as part of some network upgrading. The server is moving to a new data center from another provider.

Sandiego server will only be offline for a few minutes and should have minimal impact.

We like to assure you that all our technicians will work with special care and that this migration is a positive step to provide you better, stable and reliable services.

As part of our continued efforts to improve NationCHAT and keep it moving with evolving technology on IRC, we’re making some changes to how we operate to offer a better experience to you, our users.

Part of this change is creating a central channel for everyone who requires help, instead of all these different channels we currently offer.

In the future all NationCHAT channels will point to our official #HELP channel, where staff will be on hand to answer questions.

Four days ago we announced the implementation of BOPM – the open proxies monitor.

After some tests we realized that BOPM is not so efficient and we replaced it with a new tool that is more capable to handle the clones attacks.

If BOPM was checking the users for blacklisted proxies after connecting, the iauthd.pl tool is checking them before they can even establish a 100% connection to our servers.

If an open proxy is found as blacklisted in the majority of DNSBL databases, then, iauthd.pl tool will auto gline it.

What is BOPM?

BOPM is a proxy monitor that scans all incoming connections to a server (or network depending on configuration). When a client connects BOPM scans the client for open proxies, it then determines whether they are really open by using them to connect back to the server.

Additionally, BOPM contains the ability to match hosts against a DNS blacklist such as DroneBL or your own custom list, and depending on how it is configured the BOPM can gline/zline/kill or akill the proxy from your network.

NationCHAT has a new development!

Namely a Webchat Generator!

This is a new way to make it easy for those of you who own your own website’s to now add to your site a webchat by going to the following link.

To generate one, you just need to choose your desired options and then click the ‘generate‘ button. After this, just copy the iframe (code) that is given (it is in the box below the webchat) and insert it ‘code‘ onto your website. It’s as simple as that!
