All bot(s) connecting to any NationCHAT server must set user mode +B (Bot) when connecting and must get permission of the channel owner before joining a channel.

This user mode will identify the bot(s) as a BOT to users and Network Staff via the /WHOIS command.

Please mark your bot(s) with user mode +B when connecting NationCHAT Network starting Monday, 30 May, 2016.

It seems a couple of people have the wrong impression regarding our AUP where bots or drone connections are concerned. On the contrary, our Network Policy is to make sure you understand that our right to removal is all-encompassing where bots are concerned and that no bot connections are protected under any implied right to use our services.

So, if we (NationCHAT Staff) deem a specific bot to be a negative presence, we can and will remove it from NationCHAT Network without any requirement regarding “legality”.

There’s been a lot of news lately of ‘Password Failures’ from our users, so we would like to take the opportunity to remind you all to be vigilant with your passwords.

NationCHAT takes our users security very seriously. All passwords relating to access are encrypted for additional security.

But here are some recommendations from our Staff to protect your NationCHAT (and other) passwords:

NEVER share your password with anyone! (NationCHAT Staff will NEVER ask you for your passwords.)

A lot of us have noticed the one-time-use and registered channels with no users that have been abandoned, excluding X (channel services bot). We’ve recently considered how to also protect the resources of our Services while providing the least disruption or discomfort to our users; resulting in some changes coming very soon.

Today, NationCHAT has welcomed another server to its array and new staff members to its ranks.

We are pleased to announce the addition of a new server to our network, based in Quebec, Canada and named Quebec.NationCHAT.Org. The server has been successfully linked to the network for the past week in a testing mode, which has proven stable, and is now included in the DNS round robin.

Quebec.NationCHAT.Org will be administered by StarRain. He has much experience running IRC networks and we wholly believe that he will be a great asset to the NationCHAT

We had an issue the past couple days where two of our DNS monitoring and look-up fail-over systems were battling over look-up records.

Sadly this evolved into something where it made the DNS inaccessible at times for people to connect to NationCHAT`s IRC Servers via the look-up name and they could only connect via direct IP Addresses instead.

The problem has since been corrected as of this morning.

We are very sorry for the issues this has caused our users, and we thank you for your understanding.

Due to increasing issues with abuse, we have been forced to ban open proxies and TOR nodes from connecting to our network.

While we respect the anonymity that TOR provides, it also prevents us from being able to keep the network free of spam and usable for everyone else.

We use the Blitzed Open Proxy Monitor System to intercept and ban incoming connections from clients whose machines are running open proxies (or are connecting by means of an insecure open proxy). This service protects NationCHAT Network from most bot attacks and many

For those of you who have lately been having problems with ‘Excess Flood’, here is the reason.

Lately, we have had some issues with a number of bots connecting and making life havoc for large numbers of users.

While we are working on a more long-term method of preventing this problem, in the meantime, we have lowered the allowed flood rate of the server back to (more sane) levels — you may perform roughly 30 commands in 3 seconds before being disconnected.

For those of you who are
