#NationCHAT Channel Rules
#NationCHAT is the network's main chat channel, everyone is welcome, leave drama at the door. Enjoy your stay, the rules are very simple..
We try and remain as informal as possible, but there are some rules we'd appreciate it if you'd follow. Broadly, if you're friendly, tolerant, and reasonable, you'll probably get a pretty long way without any specific knowledge of the rules - but for the avoidance of doubt, here they are:
1. #NationCHAT is an English speaking channel. You may use whatever language you want in private messages, but use only English in the main channel so that everyone can understand you.
2. #NationCHAT welcomes users of all ages. Use restraint regarding "adult" subjects and assume that children may be reading what you type. Excessively sexual behavior, nicks, idents, hosts and usernames will not be tolerated.
3. We advise you NOT to share personal information, as this is the internet after all, and there are some dangerous people out there.
4. Do NOT:
☆ Use foul or obscene language.
☆ Harass or insult other users, including racial slurs.
☆ Fight with or flame other users.
☆ Troll, including provocative references to politics or religion, insulting remarks about gender, race, ethnicity, nationality or any other conduct intended to annoy or disrupt
the channel and its users.
☆ Flood, including join/part floods, text floods, notice floods, repeated text, etc.
☆ Co-channel with sexually oriented channels, channels promoting repugnant activities, or channels known to harbor flooders and spammers.
☆ Spam, including posting URLs, channel ads/invites or promotions/solicitations.
☆ SHOUT (typing in all CAPS).
☆ Use bold text, colors, underlines or other control-codes in an excessively nervous manner.
☆ Badger users with lame requests like "facebook", "whatsapp", "phone number", "any girls", "asl", "cam to cam", etc.
☆ Post automated "now playing" playlist messages or repeated away messages.
☆ Park bot(s) or clones/drones in the channel without prior permission from the Operators (@).
5. You may post occasional URLs (eg. YouTube). Regardless of user status, excessive or inappropriate postings will NOT be tolerated.
6. If you use a script, you are responsible for knowing what your script does and how to turn off features that violate any of our rules, including automated /quit and /part messages. Problem scripts may be banned entirely.
7. Ban evasion will result in time being added to the existing ban and could lead to a permanent ban.
8. Report abuse or spam received in private message to an Operator (@), but be aware that Operators generally can't police private messages - use /ignore to block unwanted chats (ask an
Operator for assistance with this command if needed).
9. Child Safety: As official IRC Network is our youth protection very important. Regardless of the time statements, which are generally classified as questionable (sexist or violent statements,
violations of the Equal Treatment Act, statements, legal and illegal drugs glorify) are not allowed.
10. Follow the directions of channel Operators (@) without argument or whining. If you need clarification regarding a ban or other Operator action, ask about it in a polite and respectful private message. If you are not satisfied or believe that an Operator (@) is abusing his or her position, please email a complaint to help [at] nationchat.org. Incoherent rants will NOT be taken seriously, so please stick to the facts and make sure to include what time (specify what time zone) the incident occurred so that we can research it using channel logs.
Access to NationCHAT Network is a privilege and NOT a right. This privilege can be withdrawn from any individual at any time without giving reasons.
We like #NationCHAT being a relaxed and a friendly place to chat. The real world has enough hassles, we don't need anymore on IRC. We look forward to getting to know you on the channel.
