Blitzed Open Proxy Monitor (BOPM) now running on NationCHAT

What is BOPM?

BOPM is a proxy monitor that scans all incoming connections to a server (or network depending on configuration). When a client connects BOPM scans the client for open proxies, it then determines whether they are really open by using them to connect back to the server.

Additionally, BOPM contains the ability to match hosts against a DNS blacklist such as DroneBL or your own custom list, and depending on how it is configured the BOPM can gline/zline/kill or akill the proxy from your network.

Why you activated open proxy & socks scanning?

Because IRC networks have become the target of many forms of abuse and NationCHAT has been no exception. As a result, and in the best interests of our users, we installed BOPM on our servers to prevent the abuse of our network.

All clients who connect to the network will be scanned for insecure socks & other types of proxies.

NationCHAT prohibits the use of its network to host botnets or any other forms of bots/clones. Channels found to be hosting bots will be shut down without any notice.

I got glined by the Open Proxy Monitor. What I do now?

This means your host is listed on one of the DNSBL sites and if you want your IP to be removed, follow the link that was presented in the ban reason & request your ip removal from the blacklist.
